blade runner
last night, i watched blade runner for the very first time. i can't figure out why I'd never seen this movie before, since sci-fi is one of my favorite genres. for some reason, i believed i'd already watched it, but added it to my netflix queue a while back, along with two of my favorite movies, 12 monkeys and brazil, and a respectable sprinkling of star trek episodes (love the borg!). eventually, blade runner made it to the top of my queue and i'm so glad it did... wow!
this morning, as i attempt to immerse myself in search engine and website optimization concepts (strange territory for a flash developer, i know), the plight of the replicants remains with me... and i laugh at myself as in my mind i begin to see parallels between them and today's web. just like the replicants wanted more life, web standards and semantic html practices strive to create a life-like and intelligent web, meaningful and responsive, so that all those pages we create don't become lost in the myriad of ever accumulating information... just like tears in rain.
